THE IAP PRESIDENT'S WELCOME |

Dr. Daniel Etienne - President, IAP The support of industry is necessary for the organization of international meetings, but industry is becoming more selective in choosing which organizations to support. They want some return on investment, and the challenge is to maintain scientific integrity for the benefit of all partners. This year Sebastian Ciancio and Frank Scannapieco wrote a Clinical Handbook on Oral Systemic Health that has been generously supported by Sunstar, and this partnership will help to promote IAP among practitioners. We are looking for other forms of collaboration, but the best way to remain a recognized organization is to expand individual membership. To do this, we need your support. We want members on all continents, ready to spread our enthusiasm among their friends and to encourage them to join IAP. Our journal is attractive, and due to the work of our editor, Mark Patters, and the editorial board, the scientific quality of the accepted papers is of a high standard. You can help the Academy by submitting papers to our journal, since it is always a challenge to have sufficient diversity in the topics.Prof. Ajay Kakar from India will organize the XIIth International Meeting in Agra, and you should book your agenda now for these dates for a great program: 15th – 18th March 2009.
