THE IAP SEAL OF ACCEPTANCE |

The seal program of the International Academy of Periodontology (IAP) is to provide acknowledgement to the user-the general public as well as dental professionals-of the fact that the product carrying the seal has been investigated by a committee of experts in the IAP and is safe and effective for the claim listed on the label of a product which carries the seal The seal is granted following application by the company to the IAP with submission of all relevant data related to the product including claims associated with the request for use of the seal.' The current program is for the evaluation of over-the-counter (OTC) products but may be expanded to professional products in the future. Colgate Total is the first product to receive the Acceptance Seal of the IAP to help in the reduction of plaque and gingivitis and arrest of the progression of periodontitis.
